Mr. and Mrs. Smith AKA Brangelina

The kitchen in the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith is amazing. I loved how that home was so traditional from the outside with the white colonial columns but the interior was very modern. A great inspiration for buying a older home and vamping up the interior with stainless steel! Love the contrast!

Arthur Rutenberg

On family vacations in Sarasota, FL we would spend our time touring Arthur Rutenberg homes. He is my Dad's favorite builder and I adore his sprawling Florida ranches. Take a look!

Does John Mayer have a stalker?

John Mayer calls out an ex-girlfriend on his blog today. I actually feel bad for all of his ex's...this is kind of embarrassing.

He writes:
"I was sitting in the airport lounge this morning when I started scribbling out lyrics and such…Don't read too far into this on a personal level. (There are no hidden messages)… I just thought it sums up how crazy love can be.
Dear Ex Lover,Perhaps you didn't understand the last time I told you to stop contacting me, so I'll do my best to spell it out for you. I do not wish to have you in my life anymore. I don't know how much more clear I can be about it. It would serve you best to move on with your life and find someone who can put up with you, because I'm done trying.I hope this is enough closure for you.Goodbye.
P.S. If you need me, you know how to find me."

Lara's Library

My dear friend (and talented author) Lara loves books and I think she needs to have this amazing library. hmmm...maybe it could be a weekend project?

Chanel Rules

I just really love this little Chanel number. Very constructed but so feminine at the same time. love it.

This boy is FIERCE!

Congrats Christian! I wanted you to win and I was so happy when you did!! Good thing Posh was there to persuade the judges before they went on their usual BS rant and picking someone who is lame. The final dress was amazing!

Day of extravagance continued

This is an unbelievable home design. I love the courtyard in the rear of the home with the outdoor kitchen and fireplace. Fantastic!

The most gorgeous entryway I have ever seen.

Gucci Fall 2008

FIERCE!!

Gucci has always been one of my absolute favorites. The obsession began with Tom Ford's break out 1995 ready-to-wear collection for Gucci. A then 32 year old Ford captured the fantasies of hedonistic, urban-dwelling fashionistas and dazzled critics. The collection was reminiscent of the jet-set clientele that created a buzz around the label in the 1970s, with its unbuttoned silk shirts and tight velvet hip-huggers. "It was hot! It was sex!" Joan Kaner, fashion director for Neiman Marcus, exclaimed. I was 16 years old and loved it! This probably frightened my parents a bit now that i think about it. Tom Ford has moved on and Frida Ginanni has settled in. Bravo Frida!

Tuleh Fall 2008

For the ladies who lunch this is the brand of choice. Everyone should have gorgeous suede boots in ten different bold colors. I picked a few favorites from Tuleh's Fall 2008 collection that I would love to wear to lunch, dinner with the hubby and even lounging around the house.

I'm Getting Married! Again?

OK, so I am already married but seeing this Elie Saab wedding dress makes me want to plan another wedding. Perhaps an evening in January with the snow falling. Think of Doctor Zhivago but encrusted with swarovski crystals. Over the top?? I don't think so.

Falling Slowly

Falling Slowly...Oscar Winner!

As the presenter read the names Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova for the Best Original Song Sunday evening I literally jumped off my couch screaming and clapping! I had to give them some credit here on my blog because I can simply not say enough about "Once." A fabulous film written and directed by John Carney. If you haven't seen it....see it now!!

The Amazing Arthur Erickson

The photos say it all!

Day Dreaming

One of my dreams is to one day build and design our dream home. You will quite often see a posting of a house plan or something else "dream house" related. This is all wishful thinking of course so please join me in drooling over all of these delicious designs! This is a modern home design which has a pretty simple layout but the angles make it amazing. I love, love, love walls of glass! I'm sure they cost a pretty penny and greatly increase your energy bill come winter but they are fabulous. I am also intrigued with the master bedroom. The headboard for the bed is actually a customized wall that separates the master from the master bath. This might be a bit strange for those of us that like some privacy but a neat idea for an open, lofty feel.

A Tribute to Nolita

I have longed to start my very own blog for months, and here it is! I am so excited to post my inspirations and ideas for all things design. As I was gathering some articles and photos for this blog I came across a photo I took during the summer of 2005 in Manhattan. It is a photo on the corner of Mulberry and Prince in Nolita. This was my "hood" while living in New York with my husband and although our humble abode was insanely expensive and about the size of a walk in closet, it was all about the neighborhood to me. The feeling of Nolita was one of my favorites. I would call my best friend to meet me at Cafe Gitane and we would stroll around the neighborhood sipping our iced lattes (sigh). I miss that. I miss the fresh flowers billowing out on to the sidewalks littered with trash, the dollar bin vintage shop next door to pricey designer boutique. This light and dark contrast of Nolita and really all of Manhattan is what American fashion and design is made of. Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui and Betsey Johnson choose to live in New York for a reason and that is the daily originality they find on a simple street corner in this big city.
